It is the northernmost district of Nizam state (Asaf Jahi dynasty) founded by Nizam-ul-Mulk in the Deccan region. The current culture of the district incorporates significant elements. However a multicultural society exists here with Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Malayali, Rajasthani and Gujarati people living in harmony.
